Cyber and Information Security Is a Growing Concern for Both Lawyers and Clients.
Cyber and Information Security Is a Growing Concern for Both Lawyers and Clients.
Recently, the New York Department of Financial Services has proposed comprehensive “first in the nation” Cyber Security regulations that will take effect January 1, 2017.
These regulations will apply not only to all businesses regulated by the NYDFS but also their outside counsel and other vendors.
Join us for this 3 hour CLE. This program will be broken into two sessions. We will begin with a discussion and analysis of the legal and practical implications of the new NYDFS regulations and their potential impact on outside counsel, including how the regulations intersect and differ from the confidentiality requirements of the Rules of Professional Conduct.
In the second half of the presentation, using the NYDFS regulations as a framework, the panel will walk through a mock-scenario of a ransomware attack on a law firm’s information systems.
This discussion will cover the technical, liability, and insurance coverage issues that may arise as a result of this and similar Cyber Security events.
